Ichikawa Ebizo XI strikes a 'mie' pose

Kabuki has setpiece stylized poses called 'mie' - body and arm, gestures, movement of neck, facial expression wth rolling eyes. These mie scenes have been captured in ukiyoe prints through the centuries and in modern photography. The triple-square/diamond-design on the costume are the kamon 家紋 - family crest of the Narita-ya Ichikawa family.
