丑 Year of the cow/bull
2021 is the year of the cow or bull. The Japanese kanji character usually used for cow is 牛 , but the older symbol used for the zodiac is 丑 . Here a stylized version written in calligraphic style with traditional brush. Plum blossoms are a motif of late winter/early spring and appear on New Year greetings.
