Incredible India

Where Mahatma Gandhi once walked his famous Salt March to protest the British rule and fight for equality, tribal women in Gujarat, India, are still weighed down by poverty. At a brick kiln they earn less than $3 a day. The brick industry is the second largest industry in India. Nearly 50% of the workforce is female, and their wages are just half of what the male workers earn. Photograph by Rena Effendi
