Family observing Shichi-go-san at Shinto shrine

Around November 15 families dress their 7 and 3-year-old girls, and 5-year-old boys in formal traditional attire for a visit to a Shinto shrine to pray for the continued good health and growth of their children. The children receive chitose-ame candy (in the long bags their carrying). 神社で七五三詣り 千歳飴
