Royal Park of Caserta
The Royal Park, designed by Luigi Vanvitelli and finished by his son Carlo, was inspired by models of the grand European residences of the era. It stretches three kilometres long and covers 120 hectares, incorporating on the left the so-called Old Forest, part of a previous Renaissance garden belonging to the Acquaviva family. The via d'acqua water course, consisting of ponds and fountains, is fed by the Carolino aqueduct and is aligned on a south-north axis.
