Gokayama － Suganuma gassho hamlet 五箇山

五箇山 富山県 菅沼合掌集落 Along with the more widely known village of Shirakawa-go in Gifu prefecture, the area of Gokayama in neighbouring Toyama prefecture is designated a Unesco World Heritage site for its traditional steep thatched-roofed architecture known as 'gassho zukuri' 合掌造り . Gokayama is comprised of several small hamlets tucked away in the mountains. Pictured is Suganuma hamlet, with its gassho-zukuri farmhouses covered in snow.
