Prepared at the end of the outgoing year and meant to last for several days. Eaten on New Year's day and the following few days. (The New Year's period is longer in Japan － not only New Year's Day, but at least the first 3 days of January. Many people have a lengthy year-end through New Year holiday lasting til around Jan 5.) お節料理
