Tanabata folklore - Orihime & Hikoboshi

七夕 織姫と彦星 Tanabata originated in China as the Qixi festival (to plead for skills, particularly in handicrafts and sewing) and was observed by the Kyoto Imperial Palace during the Heian pd. Blended with folklore about the love of the celestial Weaver Maiden and Oxherd/cowherd, the Twin Stars Vega & Altair. They were separated by the Milky Way, and allowed to meet but once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th month.
