Tohoku Northern Japan March 11, 2011 The record 9magnitude earthquake off the Pacific coast of northern Japan registered 5 - 7 in different parts of Northern Japan. The ensuing unprecedented tsunami tidal wave reached as high as 20 - 40 meters, bringing much devastation to inland coastal regions. The tsunami is pictured at the moment it crashed over the sea barrier wall.
